It's off to Canadian Tire to pick up our dive gear. As Darrel is walking though the parking lot, he apparently loses all motor control and just like in the slow motion sequences of Mission Impossible, falls to the ground. It was immensely funny to watch and Brittany and I laughed about it several times over the next few days. It's not like there was anything for him to trip over. It was just flat ground! It also wasn't like he didn't have time to put out his hands to break the fall. It seemed like it took an eternity for him to hit the ground. Oh well, those tough teenage years :)
We hit the border just after lunch. It wasn't too much trouble getting through. I came prepared this time and had a note indicating the Darrel and Brittany's mother would allow them to go on a holiday in the US. That seemed to placate the officer (he was a little concerned the kids were bound up and tied on top the luggage rack; surely they had to be there against their will)!!
We got all the way through North Dakota, but couldn't quite make it to Minneapolis. We stayed at Shady River Campground in Big Lake, Minnesota for the night. For the record, let me make this observation/recommendation. Regardless of how traditional or romantic it might seem to feast on chili around the campfire, don't do it. Trust me on this.
