Take a walk with me through the Garden of the Gods! You can click on any of them to enlarge them. There were numerous signs forbidding climbing and disturbing the surroundings, but there were also a few places where you could climb - if you brought the proper gear and had permission. You'll get some idea of what it was like, but the camera just doesn't capture the rich colour. The vertical alignment of the layers and the erosion of the softer material between them made for some striking looks. What I found quite interesting was that all the surrounding rocks were light gray and that really set this "Garden" apart.
Not far from here was the Cliff Dwellers area - the name says it all. Didn't have time to stop but as I drove by, it was obvious where the name came from. How they get in and out of the holes in the side of the mountain are beyond me!
